Depending on the age and model of RPM, the tamper switch may be held in place by screws or some type of adhesive including double sided sticky tape, which is not recommended. The use of an industrial grade sealant or adhesive is acceptable for this procedure if care is taken when positioning and installing new switch.

The troubleshooting process should determine if the reed switch is bad, or if the reed switch or magnet simply need to be repositioned.
